The "I Love You, Man," bromance?

OK, so I caught the Indy.com screening of “I Love You, Man” last night and — holy bejeezus — it was freakin’ hilarious.

Of course, you can do no wrong with Andy Samberg (“Hot Rod”? What? I allow one mistake, aight??). Yeah, yeah, so the main actors (Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rashida Jones) were funny, too.

But the movie brings up one of the most annoying buzzwords of the year: “Bromance.”

I find this annoying for a coupla reasons.

For one, it just is. It’s patronizing to the two guys involved, and it says “aw, we have to make a cute little word to describe two men hanging out, because it’s so unusual for it to happen.”

Secondly, it’s a lot like the term “metrosexual.” We’re so afraid of being tied to anything “gay” that we’ve gotta come up with a whole new term to describe it. Listen, dude, it’s OK that you put on more moisturizer than I do. And it’s OK that you have a good guy friend that you tell your feelings to. It doesn’t mean that anyone thinks that you’re — egad! — gay. (And so what if it does?)

Am I being that person who gets easily offended by stuff, or am I right for being annoyed? What do you guys think?
