Thatcher Park will transfer its programs elsewhere for a month while it closes to renovate the indoor pool.

The Family Center has a gymnasium and meeting room that host basketball games, volleyball, home schooling and other activities, said Paula Freund, a spokeswoman for IndyParks.

The pool was one of five closed for the summer because it needed repairs, but the rest of the fieldhouse stayed open because heavy construction hadn’t begun.

The $600,000 in repairs will include a new heating and cooling unit and a new office on the pool deck. The pool and bathrooms will be painted and the bathrooms and showers will be improved.

Thatcher Park programming and employees will be transferred to other Indy Parks facilities while the center is closed.

The center will close Wednesday and is scheduled to re-open Dec. 5, but pool repairs would continue after that.
