Terre Haute newspaper appoints new publisher

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — William “B.J.” Riley, chief operating officer for Horizon Publications, has been appointed publisher of the Tribune-Star.

The announcement was made Monday by interim Publisher Eddie Blakeley, a vice president and division manager of the Tribune-Star’s parent company, Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. of Birmingham, Ala.

Riley, 47, had been COO of Horizon Publications of Marion, Ill., since 1999. He oversaw 20 daily and 14 weekly newspapers and was based in Columbia City, Ind.He previously was publisher of the Portsmouth (Ohio) Daily Times and publisher of the Richmond (Ky.) Register. He also was a corporate advertising consultant for Thomson Newspapers.Blakeley had been interim publisher of the Tribune-Star since Feb. 26 after the departure of Jeremiah Turner.
