Teens flee bullet barrage on Eastside
Despite his bullet-riddled jacket, police said a 17-year-old boy escaped a barrage of gunfire unscathed during an Eastside street confrontation Sunday.
Indianapolis metropolitan police said the boy and his 17-year-old friend had been challenged to a fight by two 16-year-olds in the 3700 block of Decamp Drive at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The dispute stemmed from a quarrel in school a couple of months ago, according to a police report. One of the 16-year-olds pulled out a silver handgun and pointed it to the face of one of the 17-year-olds. The 17-year-olds started leaving when they were fired at. The younger boys then began shooting at them with a second gun.

When police arrived, one of the older boys was wearing a plaid jacket with several bullet holes in it, police said. He told officers that he put it over his head to protect himself from the shots.
Police found 10 shell casings in the street. They said neither of the 17-year-olds was hit.
Police have a description of the suspects, but no arrests had been made.
