An SUV collided with a school bus north of Downtown today, sending one student to the hospital.

The accident happened at 7 a.m. at 21st Street and College Avenue, said Sgt. Mathew Mount, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The bus was hit by an SUV, Mount said, but he had no details on the accident.

One student was taken to Methodist Hospital complaining of a pain in his neck, said Mary Lousie Bewley, a spokeswoman for Indianapolis Public Schools.

Indianapolis Fire Department spokeswoman Rite Reith said the student walked from the bus to an ambulance gurney, an indication that the injury was not serious.

The bus was taking 20 students to Arsenal Technical High School. The other students proceeded to school, Bewley said.
