Franklin -- A long-term disaster recovery program in Johnson County will hold free tax seminars this week for those affected by the June flooding.

The seminars will be offered on three dates:

7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Artcraft Theatre, 57 N. Main St., Franklin.

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Greenwood Public Library, 310 S. Meridian St., Greenwood.

6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, East Side Elementary School, 810 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh.

The seminars will be followed by question-and-answer sessions, according to a news release from Johnson County Community Organizations Active in Disasters, which is sponsoring the seminars.

Some of the topics of discussion include how to calculate losses caused by the flooding; how federal grants can affect tax deductions; special provisions for federally declared disaster areas; and how to obtain prior years' tax information if it was damaged or lost.

For more information, call the group at (317) 346-4140. Anyone needing transportation to the seminars is asked to call Access Johnson County at least 24 hours in advance at (317) 738-5523.
