Fishers A rollover crash of a sport utility vehicle Friday injured an Elwood man and temporarily shut down passing lanes of I-69. The accident occurred at 3:12 p.m. just south of the Verizon Wireless Music Center exit, State Police Sgt. Jeff Rader said.

State Police said Leonard Sharp, 58, Elwood, was driving his Ford Ranger north on I-69 near the nine-mile marker in Fishers when he noticed traffic ahead of him had stopped. When he swerved to avoid hitting other vehicles, the SUV went into the median, rolled and landed upright, police said.

Trooper Jeremiah Criswell said the roof collapsed onto Sharp, trapping him until the Fishers Fire and Rescue Squad arrived and extricated him.

Sharp was talking to rescuers when he was taken to Methodist Hospital. His condition was unknown Friday night, Criswell said.
