A 22-year-old man was charged with shooting the mother of his child while she quarreled with another woman.

Juan Robinson, Indianapolis, turned himself into Indianapolis Metropolitan police detectives at 9 p.m. Tuesday for the shooting of 44-year old Hazel Day on Sunday in the 3700 block of North Wallace Street.

Day was treated at a hospital and later released, police said.

Day was fighting with another woman when someone handed Robinson a gun and her fired toward them, according to a police report, which said both women “had babies by the suspect.”

Robinson was preliminarily charged with felony battery, possession of a handgun and felony criminal recklessness.

Robinson admitted to detectives that he fired the gun, police said.
