DIY

Valentine’s Day just passed; otherwise I was going to fill this picture-frame tray with “That’s So Raven” valentines, and you could then use it to serve your snugglebunny breakfast in bed. But it’s lamely seasonal! Who wants a Valentine’s tray when you could have a pile of petits fours and coffee served on Jessica Simpson’s back fat.

What you need

» 8-by-10-inch (or larger) frame. (I got mine from a dollar store.)
» Felt.
» Hot glue/hot glue gun.
» Epoxy.
» Drawer pulls.

If there is one, remove the easel stand from the back of the photo frame. Open the back and put in your selected image; replace the back piece and, using your hot glue gun, glue felt to cover the back of the frame.
Attach drawer pulls to the shorter sides of the rectangular frame. Allow the epoxy to dry completely, and then your serving tray is ready!

MAGIC THREE

1. Donna Kishbaugh moved to the Circle City from Chicago about five years ago; now, she sells her highly affordable pieces on Etsy.com (TheArtofDonna.Etsy.com). Kishbaugh creates bright, vintage-inspired handbags and mixed-media jewelry. If you’ve got a teenage daughter at home panting over the “Twilight” series, Kishbaugh also has a line inspired by the popular teen vampires. Prices start at $10. She also makes dog tags with images of loved ones and hand-set Swarovski crystals.

2. Want a piece of the late RCA Dome? Sakura Urban is selling Dome handbags, wallets and clutches, hand-made and artist-crafted from the roof material of the Dome. Proceeds benefit Indy Parks and Recreation; the project was undertaken by the non-profit People for Urban Progress (www.peopleup.org). Sakura is at 452 Massachusetts Ave; visit www.sakuraurban.com.

3. If you’re coveting the shiny, shiny leggings on everyone’s gams this year, but want a pair that’s just for you, why not make your own? MakingLatexClothing.com has tips and step-by-step instructions for making your very own latex garb. Word on the street has it that making latex clothes is difficult, but if you can master the skill, it’s well-worth it.

Ha! Yeah, but coffee tastes better when served with gossip.
