The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating three overnight robberies in different parts of the city. One man was attacked on a street and two residence robberies were reported.

One robbery was reported at 11:30 p.m. Thursday near 32nd Street and Capitol Avenue on the Near Northside. A man who said he was walking on the street said a man on a bicycle made a threatening gesture toward him, left and returned with three or four other men who beat him and then went through his pockets and took his money.

A second robbery happened just after midnight Friday on the Far Eastside. Residents of a house near 16th Street and German Church Road said two masked and armed men broke through a second floor window.

One man went through a resident’s pockets and took his wallet, and then a second man struck the resident on the head with a handgun. The men spent around 20 minutes in the house, taking money and jewelry, before they escaped.

Police said they recovered a ski mask that may have been used by one of the armed robbers. The man who was pistol-whipped suffered a deep cut on his head.

The third robbery was at 2:20 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of Detroit Street. A resident on that Near-Eastside street said two men burst through an open back door of his house and demanded money and pills, with one man holding his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun. A police report said both of the robbers wore bandanas and escaped in a subcompact car.
