Southern Culture On The Skids at The Vogue
OCTOBER 5TH - SOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS
Long the bards of downward mobility, Southern Culture on the Skids have always embodied countrypolitan. Recently described by Dwight Yoakam (in Filter) as "really on the outside, like Dick Dale meets Hank Thompson," SCOTS have mixed high and low culture for decades, endlessly touring, serving up moonshine martinis and poultry picking for fans everywhere. Now, with their new fifteen song covers collection, Countrypolitan Favorites, they've given the Go-Go country treatment to some of their favorite songs, creating a tasty buffet of tunes from Don Gibson to T-Rex.
Tickets are $15 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 7pm.
OCTOBER 14TH - PROJECT X: FEATURING KOOL KEITH, TIM DOG, MARC LIVE
Kool Keith comes in many forms and many incarnations, but his style is distinctly his own. Just as there's no mistaking his smooth lyrical delivery and searing hip0hop prose with its underlying edgy beats, there's no denying the incredible force of power that is Kool Keith.
Tim Dog is an American rapper from the South Bronx who rose to prominence during the early 90's with his Platinum debut LP Penicillin on Wax.
Marc started his career in the early 90's under the tutelage of Kool Keith and Ultramagnetic MC's and later went on to form the rap group Raw Breed where he signed a deal with Warner Brothers, and released the underground hit single Rabbit Stew.
Tickets are $15 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 8pm.
OCTOBER 16TH - CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED
Cross Canadian Ragweed knows all about the ritual of keepin' on -- and leaving nothing in reserve. The Oklahoma quartet has been pushing it to the metal for 13 years, through four studio albums, an equal number of live sets and 260 or so nights on the road every year. They don't skimp. They don't compromise. They play, and live, with genuine abandon and wouldn't have it any other way.
Tickets are $18 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 7pm.
OCTOBER 19TH - TV ON THE RADIO
The Brooklyn-based group TV on the Radio mixes post-punk, electronic, and other atmospheric elements.
Tickets are $20 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 7pm.
OCTOBER 21ST - ELECTRIC SIX, LOCAL H
The Detroit sextet Electric Six mix garage, disco, punk, new wave, and metal into cleverly dumb, in-your-face songs.
Tickets are $12 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 7pm.
OCTOBER 23RD - GWAR, KINGDOM OF SORROW, TOXIC HOLOCAUST
GWAR (an acronym for God What an Awful Racket) is thrash metal's answer to the more mainstream satire of Spinal Tap. Gory, sexually perverse, and scatological in the extreme, GWAR consists of all-powerful interplanetary warriors, descended from aliens stranded in Antarctica and initially created from the lowest filth in the universe, who have come to Earth to sexually enslave and/or slaughter the human race.
Tickets are $20 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 7pm.
OCTOBER 28TH - DWARVES
Dwarves began in Chicago as a teen garage rock outfit called the Suburban Nightmare, a sound that was partially carried over into the first Dwarves release, 1986's Horror Stories. Dwarves blazed across the country, leaving a trail of blood from their own self-inflicted gashes, a trail of drug stories, bizarre stage-show sex acts, and numerous 15-minute-long live shows.
Tickets are $15 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 7pm.
OCTOBER 31ST - HERE COME THE MUMMIES
Cursed by a mighty Pharoh over 5,000 years ago, the mummies have been wandering earth spreading their righteous grooves and infinite funkiness.
Tickets are $15 and are available at The Vogue box office and at all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 8pm.
