WOW.

Okay. Let me preface this blog by saying that I have never been drunk (a little tipsy in my younger days maybe), so I don't know exactly if this is what a hangover feels like... But last night, I had the opportunity to hang out with an artist that I have grown to love because she is so free.

When Tish Lyndsey performs (or rehearses for that matter), she transforms from this petite, quiet shell of a woman to some 8 foot soul beast and she moves how her spirit tells her to. If she decides to break into a moment of squatting while her band (Poncho, Jerry, Josh & Bruce) acts a doggone fool, she squats. If she decides to stand on one leg balancing supreme vocals on the tips of her glossed lips, she balances. Tish Lyndsey operates unlike most of today's artists... she LOVES what she is doing, and it shows. She isn't on stage providing what she thinks you want to see, rather she is confident enough to not care about if you like her belly dancing and lack of shoes. She exerts energy as her skin begins to glisten and the audience just so happens to be in attendance to become witnesses to something great.

But this isn't a concert review, so back on task... I was in attendance at the Jazz Kitchen because I was invited to be a part of the Tish Lyndsey experience. I went as I was... didn't shave, needed a haircut, wore what I had worn to class earlier that day (and normally, I come to my performances FRESH TO DEF)... and I acted a fool too. This could have potentially been one of my greatest performances... Maybe it was seeing her freedom on stage coupled with the fact that iMAGERY's image was hit for the night, made me focus more on the art... more on the fact that for this breif moment, my words would anoint the ears of an awaiting audience...

Long story short. I'm free... and I still can feel the effects of last night. The energy is still rushing through my veins. I have a SOUL HANGOVER. (Don't stael that either... I am writting a piece with that title! :)
