Smoking ban on Westfield council agenda again
The Westfield City Council will consider but not vote on a proposed smoking ban again Monday.
The ordinance, which Council President Ken Kingshill introduced in May, would ban smoking in all public places, including restaurants, bars, businesses and 80 percent of hotel rooms.
Four council members have said they oppose the ban or want a less restrictive one. Council members listened but did not discuss the proposal during a public hearing on the ban in June.
Most people who spoke during the June public hearing supported the ban, Kingshill said, but several business owners opposed it or suggested a less-restrictive ban.
