With gas prices so high, I doubt I'll be driving around looking for garage sales much this summer. Last year, gas was cheaper and it still killed me driving around town. If you burn $30 in gas to save $20 on some junk, you're not really saving any money.

I'll probably limit myself to nearby neighborhood sales that are on my normal driving routes.

Back when gas was less than $1 a gallon, I'd burn through a tank of gas driving all over the state looking for bargains...it used to cost me $10 a week to fill up my car in the mid to late 90's.

Camping is a lot less affordable than it used to be as well. Many state parks are quite a long drive from Indy. While campsites and food are still relatively affordable...the gas is insane.

We're planning on having a moving sale at our house sometime in the next few weeks. I might track this post back down then, if anyone wants some of my old crap that I don't feel like moving.

Awesome question. I love my $5 oval mirror with gold gilded frame. Got it last summer on a whim. It's easily 2.5 ft wide by 1.5 tall. Proud hardly describes it. No sales around me yet. I too enjoy looking though other's leftover belongings at sales. It's like a scrapbook of the owners- old toys, records, furniture, clothing, tchochkes...

Great way to spend Saturdays in the summer- with or without a goal for shoppin'

Love to see a blog go up to keep track of local sales!

this is no joke. One time at a garage sale someone was actually trying to sell a colon cleansing kit, and it was out of the box. I mean you couldn't give something like that away.

Well I'll be having a yard sale either next weekend or the weekend after that, depending on the weather. I have a tan couch sectional with a pull out queen size bed in good condition, a beautiful forest green wet bar in wonderful condition, tv, ironing board, coffee table, in tables, and some odds and ends.

The best thing I ever found at a yard sale, were a whole bunch of beanie babies.
