From what I have noticed in my life and my friends "moist" tends to bother women more than men. Just my observation. I tend to hate missuse of words more than hold a grudge against any one or two words for what they are.

Lard and phlegm top my list. I will never forget as a young child thinking that Crisco would be good by the spoonful. The result, lard and phlegm. Disgusting! Discuss....

joe, I love your comment. I've had the same experience, although I don't think I harbor as much hate towards the word as you do. If you stare at any word for too long it just doesn't make sense any more.

I also despise "LOL", although it is a handy comment, so I despise myself when it's the only phrase I can come up with to use.

If I look at any one word for too long (or too many times in a short period of time) I start to get annoyed by it. I just start looking at it differently, and I start to hate it.

mispronunciation/missuse or fake words bugs me a bunch: width and "heighth," "jew-lur-y", a professor used to say "problematical" all the time, "cann-ih-date," "ex-cape," the list goes on. I'm not intolerant, just appreciate diction and pronunciation and work on it myself!

Word that bothers me to say for no reason: panties.
