I have something like 577 hrs of paid time off to take...so I actually AM going to take a 'Spring Break' or two this year. I'm planning a trip to Alaska that I'm very excited about. I'm taking the Empire Builder out to Seattle, and taking a cruise that bounces along the shore in the Inside Passage. I'm hoping to see some bears, moose, bald eagles, and whales while I'm up there. I'd also like to do a glacier hike and do a little fly fishing. And I'm really looking forward to the train ride to the summit of White Pass in Skagway. It follows the original mining trail up into the Yukon. Saw it on a documentary awhile back and the scenery was amazing.

I'd also like to go to France. I saw a show on PBS about France that included stops at Normandy, Honfleur (home of composer Erik Satie), Mont St. Michel. Then I found this guy (http://www.boblucky.com/Biking/France.htm) who did a bike trip that hit all of those places. He even found a shop that would drop off a rental road bike at his starting destination and pick it up at the last hotel on his trip. Sounds very cool to me.

Heh. I would never vacation during Spring Break. Everything is more expensive and crowded. I tend to time my vacations around the end of Sept. /beginning of Oct. when all the kids are in school and Fall Break hasn't started yet. You can go to Disney and the weather is warm without being too hot to enjoy yourself, and there are no lines for any of the rides. You can drive to the beach and hardly see another person. Head to a state park and have it almost to yourself until the weekend.
