After a little further research, which I probably should have done before opening my mouth in the first place, it looks like this is a moot point. The NFL allows "flex scheduling" for the Sunday night games in weeks 10 - 15 and week 17. The Colts/Patriots game is week nine and, therefore, will not be eligible to be moved to the primetime slot.

In regards to the NFL, it's a travesty that this wasn't considered primetime worthy during the initial scheduling of this game. In regards to the Broken Social Scene show, this is great news.

We've been doing a lot of in-studios on Sundays recently. I LOVE the NFL (and the Steelers), but I will take an opportunity to record/promote a band and our station ahead of feeding the corporate machine. Though I don't think I would miss the Colts/Pats for anything. Maybe Bob Pollard, but he'd want to see the game, too.

Ah, I'm the friend in question here. Generally, I would attend a concert before I'd watch a game on television. Many venues have a television behind the bar, so I can often keep track of the score while enjoying the show. That said, there's a specific conflict coming up and this is what I was initially referring to: Broken Social Scene versus Colt/Patriots.

As it currently stands, the Colts/Pats game is scheduled for 4:15, so it's not a huge conflict. I know that occasionally big games are pushed back to the primetime slot; I don't know if this happens any more and I don't know what the process is. BUT, this game has the potential to be one of the biggest regular season NFL games ever played, so if there was ever a game that warranted a primetime slot, this is it. Assuming this happens, I think the Broken Social Scene crowd will suffer, which is a bummer. Some people would argue that indie rock fans stereotypically aren't big sports fans, but this doesn't really seem to be the case with many of my friends. I'd like to see this show, but in this case, if it comes down to it, I've gotta watch the game.

Well see my friend.. this is where you separate the fans from the... wagon. Granted my "Colts game on TV" happens to be a 56'' DLP in HD with a Cerwin Vega 5.1'' surround sound sporting two 15'' speakers an 10'' sub, but I'm a dedicated fan none the less. Even if my favorite band Incubus were in town, I'd pass up the concert any day to watch Bob Sanders do it big... LIVE. I could even record it in HD on my DVR... but its just not the same.

You can see a football any fall weekend, and the bands you like may only show up in Indy once or twice a year.

If its a choice between a Colts game on TV and a LIVE concert, then its a no-brainer: Go to the concert!
