Leonard Cohen is in the hall the same reason Miles Davis & Grandmaster Flash are in....it's called influence. Something he has way more than JCM.

I was part of the ballroom audience he addressed with F-bombs during the performance of "Burning Up" ... It may not be scandalous, but it did happen.

I watched the entire HOF ceremony. I didn't hear one expletive out of Iggy Pop's mouth contrary to David Linquist's report here. He only sang on stage and hardly spoke at all during his walk through the kitched of the Waldorf Astoria until he met up with Madonna. No cussing there. Rock stars cursing is hardly news. I've heard more bleeping on recent episodes of SNL. Makes one yearn for the days when this event wasn't televised.

Congratulations John. A well deserved honor. I'm wondering why though, that Leonard Cohen was inducted? Don't get me wrong, I am a big Leonard Cohen fan, but I would hardly call his work Rock & Roll. They ought to rename the place the Popular Music Hall of Fame or something similar, or stick to artists in that genre.

Great work on taking us to the rock hall induction, Dave. Considering Madonna's m f-ing and Justin's innuendo-ing and Billy Joel's repeated use of the sh-t word, JCM -- who, as we know, has one of the foulest mouths in the business -- came off rather tame, didn't he. And, man, can Tom Hanks make any band look like rock gods? I loved the Dave Clark Five, too, but they pale in comparison with the real leaders of that invasion -- the Stones and the Beatles. But I do remember the hype at the time which convinced all of us young viewers that the clean-cut DC5 was only second to the Beatles in talent. Their frequent appearances on Ed Sullivan led us to believe that.
Also, I read that for those who missed last night's show, the VH1 channel most of us have will be rerunning the show which was on VH1 Classic. I streamed it off the Best Buy site, sitting at my computer desk for 3 1/2 hours, which is not my idea of the best way to watch any show like that.
