The energy consumption is more, and we lose an hour of daylight in the spring right when it starts to get light. My problem with DST is actually kind of selfish and it has to do primarily with my extensive collection of sun dials. Twice a year I have to go out back and rotate them 8 degrees in order for them to be accurate. It really is quite a hassle.
