Fogo is all-you-can-eat of different types of meat (including lamb) and sides for around $40 for dinner, unlike traditional steakhouses where you order, say a NY strip or a ribeye and maybe a baked potato and a salad.

From Fogo's website, www.fogodechao.com:

"Each guest uses a two-sided disk to control the pace of their meal. The green side signals the Gaucho chefs to bring out skewers of sizzling fire-roasted meats to carve at the table. The red side indicates a stopping point. Turning back to green lets the Gaucho chefs know to start offering the meats again.

"The traditional side dishes of warm cheese bread, fried bananas, crispy hot polenta and seasoned mashed potatoes are automatically brought to each table and replenished throughout the meal. The restaurant's award-winning wine list, traditional Brazilian beverages, and a variety of decadent desserts complement the experience."

I'm pleading culinary ignorance and asking for some help. What makes Argentine and Brazilian steakhouses so trendy? What sort of differences are there in cuts and preparation from traditional steakhouses? How do the two compare to each other?

Fogo plans to open in mid- to late-April. The salad bar is supposed to be great too and you can just order that and ignore the parade of meats if you want.

Maybe nSAYchable was thinking of Brazilian Grill. It's on the northside:

It looked like it was under construction when I drove by a few days ago. It sits in that corner building on East Washington. ::shrugs::

I recently dined at this restaurant in Atlanta... It was a great dining experience.
Definitely not your everyday, but special occasion, restaurant.
TWO THUMBS UP!
You'll love it!
Oh yeah, leave the kids at home!
I am so glad NAPTOWN is waking up and this restaurant is coming to town!
