      <description>I fall into that latter category...I pay attention to the 500 but am not a big race fan. As I recall, when the IRL broke away it was more or less considered inferior to CART, but it seems like as the transition to the Champ Car series began the tide shifted. I don't really know any Champ drivers (or at least would not know that they were Champ Car drivers). I think it's good for open-wheel racing, since the prestige of the 500 has really lost a lot of its luster since the mid-90s, and a potential return to the greatness it deserves would be most welcome.</description>
