it looks like IU will be out of the rankings unless they can pull it together soon. They needed to pull out the victory last night in order to maintain its dominance. Now they are on the borderline of being good.

Purdue is a very solid team. IU is not a better team, overall, but will go further in the tournament because, unlike Purdue, they have 2 guys who can carry the rest on their shoulders and that's what you have to have come tourney time. Butler is an excellent squad and also has those 1 or 2 players that can step up in the clutch and take them far. Notre Dame sucks. They suck at everything. I am a huge hater. I don't deny it. Have never liked them and never will and they'll never win at anything. Sorry guys. The days of Digger Phelps and Lou Holtz are long gone. You now suck. On the other hand, I went to Ohio State and we are second best at everything! We're #2!

As a lifelong IU fan, I have to side with getstumpy here. It's a shame because on one hand he's breathed life into the IU basketball program that Mike Davis drained, but on the other he's brought along a lot of shame and disgrace to the program.

From where I sit, this isn't a Bob Knight thing, because as much as I loved him when he was here, he too brought shame and indignity to the school with one notable exception: he didn't break NCAA rules. He always played fair, even if he was a pri*k to almost everyone in the world.

I think Sampson is a clown and should be fired. We need someone in there who will win without breaking the rules.

And as far as "it's not that big a deal"...if it isn't a big deal, why did he continue to do it?

No one is calling Sampson a cheater. He *is* cheater. It's been proven. He's admitted to cheating it at IU. This is a fact that is very easy to research. The links are on Indystar front page. It's not debatable. Apparently the NCAA thinks lying and cheating is a big deal. Is selective ethics a good example for student athletes and institutions of "higher" learning?

Gordon and Crawford are 5- and 4-star recruits. They're the only freshmen getting playing time at IU. The rest of the team has extensive experience playing college basketball, especially compared to Purdue.

I grew up an IU fan but changed my allegiance once I could no longer tolerate the arrogance and ignorance of the other IU fans around me (it's very similar to Patriot fans--as is having a cheating coach). Purdue teams often overachieve and their fans are much more pleasant to be around.

It's not where you start (Wofford) that matters, it's where you finish (Big Ten Championship?)!

They still lost to a school no one has heard of. IU is a young team too. I don't know everyone's class on Purdue but I can tell you IU is far from a team who has a lot of experience with each other.

Call Sampson a cheater all you want but what we know he did wasn't that big of a deal.

And you didn't even go to Purdue, why the hell would anyone choose to be a Boiler fan?!??!

Check your facts. Wofford is D-1. You know how the NCAA hates people who lie!

They are 1-AA in football, in the same conference as Appalachian State (who beat Michigan).

Gotta remember, Purdue is made up of mostly freshmen. You'd expect them to stumble early as they learn to play at the college level and play together. IU has a mix of experienced veterans and 5-star talent, a cheating coach, and still can't beat a team in the top-50 RPI rankings. They appear to have peaked early and leveled off while Purdue continues to improve. IU has lost to some good teams, but they haven't beaten any either. Purdue has defeated the good teams that IU can't.

If your post was in November or December, you might have been correct. The cloud of the cheating/lying scandal will not be kind to the rest of the Hoosier basketball season.

Greenspan had a chance today to start the healing process, but instead he decided to back the repeat offender. Maybe there's a place for him in the Patriots' front office.

This kind of looks like a most I made a few days ago ;-)

Anyway Indiana is the best team in Indiana. They play in a conference where they actually get competition and they've only lost to very good teams. Not D-II teams like Wofford (Purdue).
