I like Fountain Square for interesting people -- artists, musicians, writers, plus people who have lived in the area through high and low times.

I lot of my friends now are people I met in Fountain Square.

You might visit places like Cognizant Coffee, on Prospect in FS. I think they still have board game nights on Tuesdays from 6 til closing. People can just show up and play whatever board games they bring (I think they also have some there). Radio Radio is the smoke-free club in FS. They have live music every week. Usually local acts, too. And their drinks are good. It's a neat place. There are also galleries that have shows every First Friday, like Big Car, Alchemy (also a hair salon), Flux, etc.

The eastside has some cool places, too. Not much nightlife but it's still a neat area. I like the bookstores, Sleepy Hollow and Bookmamas. Lazy Daze Coffeehouse is cool, too. They have weekly poetry readings on Thursday nights, starting at 7 pm. That place is on Johnson Ave. and Washington St. in Irvington. They also have live music on weekends. Usually of the folk genre. There's a new pizza joint called, Jockamo's. Awesome. Lots of Mexican restaurants. My fav on the eastside is El Jaripeo. It's waaaay out on Washington St, where the Movies 8 theater is, past the mall.

Some people like Broad Ripple's night scene but I hate it. It's more for your average frat boy/sorority girl crowd. I do like Broad Ripple in the day, though. Lots of good eateries and good shopping (especially vintage stores)! BR Vintage, Red Rose, The Toggery -- all great stores. There are other boutiques there that are neat but require more chedda, like Chelsea's, Pitaya, Slinky. For eating, I like Broad Ripple Brew Pub, Scholar's Inn Bakehouse, La Piedad (Mexican), Mama Corolla's at 54th St. just off the Monon Trail. The best coffee is at Monon Coffeehouse, on Westfield Blvd. They have awesome pastries, too.

For another good place to just hangout and drink lots of wine, there's Joseph Lehner's Wine Wednesday events. They're usually themed and they're on the second Wednesday of every month. They're at his place on 21st and Talbot and people just show up. It's not rave-ish or anything like that. Just people talking, dancing, hanging out and being chill. When the weather's warm, people go up on the roof. It's a cool place. The fun usually starts at around 9 and you just show up with a bottle of wine.
