I grew up idolizing Batman, Captain Kirk, James Bond, & my Dad. I even wrote all of them down in the 2nd grade when I was asked who my heroes were.

I'd have to say Janet Jackson. While all my friends were obsessed with Madonna, I was trying to recreate every dance move she did. And if we are talking 1st to 3rd grade - it was Micheal. No one can front on how amazing the Wiz and Thriller were!!

We did the same thing with the Gladiators!! We had twin beds right next to eachother and would throw pillows, stuffed animals and blanks into the space between. Then we'd each stand on a bed and try to knock eachother off into the "pit".

Its a little suprising we never cracked our heads open. But it was super fun!

Ha! I don't think I can deny that, but having that grown-up perspective changes things a little bit too. Actually, at the beginning of that movie, Prince Adam and Bow (the red-headed dude with the porn mustache and the bow and arrow) also shared a horse ride that had more than a little homoerotic connotation to it.

I loved Punky Brewster, along with Wonder Woman and Daisy Duke.

My two brothers and my sister would set up faux obstacle courses American Gladiator (the original!) Style with couch cushions in our living room. Ahhhh...Nitro...

Then again, I also remember the four of us sticking our toes down into the cracks of the couch, tensing up stomach muscles and flying, one arm out, superman style.

Man, we were weird kids...

Is it me, or did He-Man and She-Ra have a bit of a potentially unhealthy relationship? Watching "The Secret of the Sword," there was almost disappointment in his eyes when She-Ra told him she was his sister (he didn't know on account of Hordak stealing her when she was a baby, and she found out before him because the Sorceress spoke to her through her sword).

Anyway, they just kind of looked at each other funny at times. It got creepy sometimes. And they always made it a point to call each other "sis" or "brother" with this smirks on their faces, as if they enjoyed calling each other that. And they were awfully touchy-feely with each other.

I'm telling you. Go back and watch it. Plus, when She-Ra rescued He-Man on her flying unicorn, he sat in the back and there seemed to be quite a bit of...uh, thrusting going on there.

Oh, my sister and I (and later my bro, but we didn't let him play with us much) had the swords down the back of our shirts. God bless Battle Cat. Such a wimp when not a bad ass.

Hulk Hogan.

My son LOVES He-Man right now. I have some of the old DVDs and it's his absolute favorite. He runs around with his "magic sword" (actually a Ringling Bros. Circus flashing light-up sword) stuck down the back of his shirt and often pulls it out and says "By the Power of Greyskull!" I also just showed him the He-Man/She-Ra movie (though he'd already seen the Christmas Special).
