Yeah, Gena Rowlands and Ben Gazarra---classy acts both. I agree that the film didn't live up to the hype I'd built up in my head but still better than most films with many memorable film moments.

Once I was able to wrap my brain around this film I fell completely in love with it. The concept and style were excuted so well and to see some familiar faces was just the cherry on top. I think a discussion on this movie could get extremely complex and emotional. I loved the storyline where the girl left her own baby all day in order to take care of someone else's baby, and the one where Nick Nolte played the cigarette smoking, American father to the french girl who brought him her baby to look after. Don't even get me started on Gina Rowlands. Loved loved loved this film. Yummy.

Probably. When you have that much build up about anything, it's almost always a disappointment. Unfortunately.

I had no expectations at all. Saw it at Hollywood Video on the four for $20 used DVDs rack, read the back cover and though, "Hmm. Sounds cool. I'll buy it." So there's probably a huge difference in our preconceived notions going into the viewing process.

I think I waited to long to see it and built it up a bit too much in my head...cinematography and art direction was gorgeous throughout, though. And there were some fantastic pieces.

I liked it a lot. I didn't really see it necessary for anything to hold them together. I thought of it as a collection of short stories with a common theme, but not necessarily related or connected.

Some were slower than others, but there were some really nice bright spots and artistically nice bits. So, on the whole, I liked it. I didn't love love love it, but I liked it a lot.
