Oh, and here's a recommendation for all of y'all. Inevitably, death prompts people into looking at life through the retrospectascope. On that note, there are a couple of Australian movies Ledger was in that didn't really make it in the US. Well worth watching are: "Two Hands" (1999), "Ned Kelly" (2003) and "Candy" (2006). If you can Netflix them, I highly advise you to do so.

Yeah, I think so too. But in a strange way, that footage - and my visceral reaction to seeing it - has somehow made me more emotionally invested in the death of Ledger.

It's odd. When Princess Di died, I don't remember feeling anything, or really even caring. I actually remember thinking it was bizarre that people could be so profoundly sad over the death of someone they never knew.
But something about seeing Ledger wheeled out on that gurney just makes my stomach turn, in a deeply sad way. It's like, I never knew I cared, until I gulped as they trundled out the body bag.

...Or maybe that had nothing to do with it. Maybe it's just that he was an amazing force on screen, and that he's roughly my age, and that he's an Australian, like me.

I REALLY wish they would stop showing the video of his body being wheeled out of his building. It was OK for the first day, but seems really insensitive repeated ad nauseum.

I agree. What an amazing actor and he just seemed like such a nice guy overall. Never in a lot of trouble for younger Hollywood... I'm interested to see what the autopsy shows...

This is a tremendous loss to the art of film. Ledger had grown more as an actor over the past few years than just about any performer I can think of.

I'm not sure if I want to see his portrayal of the Joker now, given how unbelievably creepy it's been described.

What a shame.

Very tragic indeed. I wonder how this will impact the upcoming Batman sequel?
