I usually listen to NPR, unless I feel like singing in the car, in which case I turn to 107.9 for the sake of the great 80s music. And then I roll down the window and belt it out for the benefit of the other cars on the road.

I can't believe someone said 99.5. I am constantly amazed that someone (Smiley?) with no musical knowledge, no pop culture awareness, a Baptist Narrowcast (yeah, we are all right wing wackos here in Indy) and overall mentally challenged can dominate the morning airwaves. It's an insult to mediocre radio that someone like him is allowed to be employed in the communications arena. Even worse are the callers who really give Indiana a reason for it's stereotypes. If I can't listen to NPR, I listen to High School stations, but usually Cd's.

Bob and Tom in the morning... boob jokes? you mean sodomy and poop jokes... now that's funny!
Seriously... their constant flow of comedians and the familiar voices keep me coming back.

in the afternoon it's 1260 and JMV, best sports talk in Indy

for music... I guess 103 followed by 92.3, but I never seem to keep any station on for very long, I get a bit frustrated by the playlists and end up just putting in a CD... mp3 cd players that hold 200 songs is the way to go for music in the car for me.

i have to say, i drive around a lot with the radio on scan. If you totally cut out the radio, and only do the cd/mp3 thing, you could be missing something. I never minded the djs. well, that is if they were honestly funny, had good interaction and were creative. this town has been lacking in that department for a while, and a year ago, the "new rock alternative" (with not so much new rock) axed some of the creativity. If they can get the talented dj's - i'd like to hear them again. until then... i'll be a scan listener.

Satellite radio is brilliant! I'm addicted to my BBC channels, the Big 80's, Heart and Soul, Backspin - the list is endless.
My fave local stations are 90.1 when I'm solo and when I'm driving with my son - 98.3 - Radio Disney (I know it's not really local).

I listen to any station that has a jock that will answer the phone and not resort to "voice tracking" or taping a show. Ever wonder why alot of times you can't get through? Most times if they are voice tracked or taped, they "busy out" the phones. When radio becomes fun again and there are live DJ's all the time then I will listen. Long Live The IPOD!

95.5...sometimes okay, but I can only take so much country in a week.
99.5...why do they have to throw in all that hiphop @#$% after 3p?
93.9...what happened to my Dave Ramsey? Billboards advertised a station that none of my cars can tune into!
Do I sound bitter?! I'm now a Ch.6 listener in the car...take that, Emmis!

what is a satellite radio?

if its not my totally awesome selection via ipod, then its a scratched cd.

if it MUST BE radio, 90.1, no question.

x103 is either stuck in the mall or in the 90's. 92.3 is boring. the hip hop stations here are limited by commercial time, and the rest are just commercials.

as far as AM goes; if i want to my some road rage on, fine. nothing but half-assed misinformation and hipo-Christians.

but bob and tom make boob jokes, so theyre cool.

I listen to a bit of everything already mentioned here. My favorite is probably 92.3 though. I have a 35 minute commute back and forth to work so, satelite radio doesn't do me any good. I have to hear about traffic around town. I have to be weary of all of these lovely (sarcasm!) drivers that Indy has to offer.

92.3 - World Class Rock... and next up we have a song by Creed!

the best radio station in Indianapolis can only be heard by about 14 people but it's x103's HD station which is almost identical to that of Left of Center on Sirius with a little bit of Lithium on Sirius mixed in. Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Strokes, Sunny Day Real Estate, QOTSA, Buckley, Beatles, Muse, Pixies, Rage, etc., etc., etc.

i actually have satellite so it doesn't matter but if you don't you should try and listen to this.

92.3, although I will say that they seriously need to bury some of the 80's and 90's crap that still makes it into heavy rotation. I think they're the best in town, but there is much room for improvement in a market that desperately needs some improvement.

But honestly, the station I tune to most of the time is 90.1 NPR. It's the least irritating of any station in town. Except during telethon time.
