This will give you time to adjust. Also, if they're running up and down stairs, look away as well, as this is when the camera is most jittery. I'm also prone to motion sickness - having thrown up previously at Blair Witch. A few things made it less severe this time. The first being that the film is shot at night and the images aren't crystal clear. The second was that I looked away from time to time to get my balance. It's a great movie, so I recommend giving it a shot. I've seen a lot of movies with realistic effects, but the thing that makes the visuals so powerful is that even when you have a clear shot to see everything, it's difficult to take it all in. I'm going to see it again just to get a better look at the monster. Folks, go see this movie. It's pretty damn good.
