I would have to say since I eat out 3-4 days a week for work that the majority of the servers I have had male or female act like they could care less about me as a consumer.

Recently I was in Indianapolis for the mini marathon and had dinner at Houlihan's, Barcelona and Champps and each server was great and I think all three of them were gay and they were fantastic especially Sam at Barcelona - he was very happy to tell us about the great food they offer and was very attentive to our table.

I'm always bummed out when I don't get a waitress. Plus I tip based on looks so it doesn't work out to well for the guys.

I don't care who my server sleeps with, and honestly I've never noticed openly gay servers to be any better or worse than straight ones. Nor have I found women to be better servers than men. I think good service is gender neutral.

What's politically incorrect about it?

In my opinion, nothing. But believe me, that's not how everybody feels.

I don't know of a political correct equivalent.

What's politically incorrect about the word "gaydar"? Is there a politically correct equivalent?

Some people claim to be able to guess the sexual orientation of an individual with reasonable accuracy by simply observing the way that individual talks, walks and dresses. I believe the street (and politically incorrect) word for this sixth sense is gaydar.

Just curious: how is it you're supposed to know your server's sexual orientation? Is it written next to their name tag? Or, since most servers don't wear name tags nowadays, is it a standard part of their spiel?

"Hi, I'm Rod, I'm bicurious and I'll be your waiter tonight."

Or, since you feel gay waiters are better than straight, is it a retroactive designation? "He was polite and friendly; must be gay!"

An individuals sexual preference does not matter to me.. As long as they aren't rude and they keep my water filled then we are all good.

As long as the food gets to the table they can be in a clown costume for all I care!

But here is a question to go along with this. When you go to a Hibatchi Resturant do they only hire Asian looking people to work the grill? Since it gives the place a better atmosphere.

Sweeping generalizations sometimes contain a grain of truth, and I think this one does. Although, to be fair, one of the best waiters I've ever had was a straight man -- at Rock Bottom, no less.

It doesn't really matter to me, as long as they're good at their job and not a sucky a$$ person.

But being a woman gives me a different perspective.

I think you're being a little unfair to the straight guys. Not all of them act rude or emo. A good server is a good server, regardless of sexual orientation.

It's all about who wants good tips badly enough.

(BTW, you might want to add commas to your tags. Right now it's just one big link to nonsense.)
