In and Out Burger was the highlight of my last trip to Cali and yes, I ate at real restaurants too. When, oh when will we get to experience the delights of the double double burger in the Midwest?

We took the family to The Ram last night. They have an "Angus" (not Kobe, just for clarification) prime burger on the menu. All four of us had various toppings and gave them a thumbs up. My kids especially loved the carrot sticks with ranch dip AND fresh cut apples with a brown sugar cinnamon dip (sooo good) they were served as a free appetizers. I thought they had some fairly creative entrees on the menu (for a chain) and will go back to test a few.... We're still open for more burger suggestions!

the triple prime at Ruby Tuesdays is damned good...

I've never had the very pretentious sounding Kobe beef though... they massage the cows? lol!

So the best Kobe burger in town is at Peterson's, but unfortunately they only serve it in the bar, so your son might be out of luck there. (And they are ridiculously strict about this, no exceptions, even when we have begged Karl Benko himself!) But for those of you old enough to enjoy a cocktail, you are in luck! Peterson's burger is served on a fresh baked roll, with homemade steak sauce that is tangy, sweet, and completely unique, and a side of giant tempura fried onion rings. The burger itself actually melts in your mouth and is full of flavor. It is seasoned perfectly and always prepared and presented well.

The Ram has also jumped on the Kobe bandwagon - it is Kobe for the masses, but it isn't bad at all.

Also, I agree that the Kobe beef from Joe's Meat Market in Carmel is top notch.

For a non-Kobe, non-chain burger, another great place is The Friendly Tavern in Zionsville. Happy Burger Hunting!

Joe's Butcher Shop in Carmel carries Kobe beef from the herd raised by the folks at Joseph Decuis restaurant in Roanoke, Ind. I think he has kobe burgers; make the boy one at home and show him how it's done!

I was at 14 West last night and saw that they have a kobe burger. Pretty sure Peterson's does too. But that's an expensive burger for a 10-year-old!
