I do have to criticize "Smallville" for being too teen-show, though you can't hate on them for their guest super heroes (though not having Bruce Wayne is inexcusible on the part of the silly WB execs who don't want to lend him to Smallville for even a week).

Geez...your post referencing cool cars and vehicles just begs a "best 80s cartoon" post. I'm doing it...now.

I always thought the Coyote was a cooler car than the General Lee. That's my inner 8-year-old talking. They also had a cool theme song.

For a while, there was a rash of prime time TV shows about cool vehicles. Much of my childhood was spent watching suped-up cars, helicopters, etc. Then came monster trucks, then Transformers, and because we were poor, Go-Bots.

I saw that ep. of "Smallville." Good times. They got caught up in special guest appearances when they should've been letting Clark fly more. And Margot Kidder's appearance? Yikes!

indyclone is right about the Incredible Hulk, though didn't it start in the 70s? I think it was off the air by 81...but I was only 4 years old in 81 so I could be wrong about that.

And john king, you can't bring me Coy and Vance as an argument about the Dukes. The show officially jumped the shark when John Schneider and Tom Wopat were off the show. Coy and Vance is one of those things like that one "dream" season of Dallas...it didn't really happen. It's a collective figment of the TV audience's imagination.

And sure it doesn't hold up well, but not one of those shows you mentioned (with the possible exception of Magnum P.I., which isn't much better) hold up any better.

I would call "Hardcastle" a bold choice, so kudos for that...I just have to fault you for omitting the Duke boys.

BTW, did anyone catch the episode of "Smallville" with Tom Wopat as a guest star as Jonathan Kent's old buddy? Of course, Jonathan was played by one John Schneider, and they of course added a scene where Tom Wopat drives up in a 69 Charger, and he has to slide in through the open window because the door is broken or something. Great little moment.

The Coy and Vance episodes suck even more now than before.
