I've been thinking- things have been a little crazier than normal both professionally and personally. I'm certainly not alone and I am far from the bottom of the barrel.

The phrase, "I'll pray for you" has been quoted to me several times in the past few weeks and its making me wonder: Do people really mean it? If they do, do I care who they are praying to? Does that really make me feel better? Does it work?

Personally, I'm glass half full and I'll say yes to all of the above. I find comfort in the knowledge that my friends care about my struggles, no matter how insignificant and yes I do feel better. Call me naive if you must, but what are other thoughts on the matter?

Things have been pretty wacky for me on all fronts lately, as well. And Mama Drinky is quite religious. She says she'll pray for me every time something goes wrong. I am not religious, to say the least, but I just take it as a nice gesture and say thanks.

I think that most people, if they actually say "I'll pray for you" or "I'll keep you in my prayers", are being sincere... or at least intend on doing so. I know that when I say that to anyone, I truly intend on thinking of them during prayer and reflection. There are times where I may forget someone, but then later in the day something will remind me and I'll throw in a quick "Oh yeah God, while you are at everything, "so and so" could use you too."

As to whether you should care who they are praying to for you... well, I don't think it should really matter. Who knows... maybe we are all praying to the wrong people so maybe one of us will get it right. :)
