Folks, here are the characters:

1.Native Cincinnatian Julie Neumark, who resides in L.A.

2.Detroit-native Dave Carducci, also of Los Angeles.

3.Tim Brickley, a native San Franciscan who lives, well, right here.

The plot, it seems, thickens about 8:30 p.m. tonight at D'vine, 82nd and Allisonville (next to Houseworks), when the music of Indy's Troubadour Songwriter night starts.

Troubadour, you may know by now, is D'vine's weekly singer-songwriter event -- named in honor of Los Angeles' famed Troubadour, where the likes of Carley Simon, Elton John, James Taylor and oh-so-many more have played.

For our weeks-old weekly event, Tim invites all sorts of cool and talented people to join him on the Oriental rug at D'vine. They sing and play. We drink loads of half-priced wine. Everybody wins.

So, pop in at D'vine tonight, if:

(A) You'd like to take a West coast music-listening vacation but your 401K has tanked and the paychecks are too small and slow coming.

(B) You're a sucker for little-known, but truly magical, finds.

(C) You need some levity as we face depression and Depression.

(D) You like to mix booze and music.

(E) You wonder how all of those Californian/Midwestern-combo vibes will actually sound.

If you still aren't convinced, check out Neumark's (www.myspace.com/julieneumark), Carducci's (www.myspace.com/davecarducci )or Brickley's (wwww.myspace.com/timbrickleyandthebleedinghearts) Myspace pages.

Neumark says she's one part Stevie Nicks ~ I like her for that alone.Carducci describes his music as Brit-inspired Alt-Country (interesting), and Brickley, well, you know Brickley, right?

Right. See you there.

There's a wee bit more: If you're the planning type, mark your calendars for OCT. 29, when Troubadour will be a "Hoot Night" of the pre-election sort.

Here's what Mr. B has to say about that: "In the grand tradition of the Indiana Music Coalition/Different Beat 'Hoot Nights' of yore, we happily announce the monthly mass gathering of writers, singers and players at Troubadour Night. Each will have a theme, this month's is songs of a political stripe."
