Here we are on Wednesday.
You know what that means (right?): It's time -- again -- for D'Vine's Troubadour Songwriter Night ~ when great locally, regionally and nationally-known musicians drop in at The Wine Bar, 82nd and Allisonville, to play a few tunes and tell us a bit about them. We, on the other hand, get to lean back in easy chairs, have a drink and watch. Nice, huh?
Tonight's guest is Hoosier Luke Austin Daughtery, a peace-loving singer-songwriter musician and painter with a newish CD "Love, War and Metaphor." Mr. Daughtery's Myspace describes him this way: "A devoted Christian, who doesn't fit the industry's mold. As one put it at a concert, 'He's like a Holy Ghost Neil Young.'" Cool... Perhaps he'll even do a tune he apparently wrote for President George Bush (Now that I've heard it over Myspace, I'd like to hear it live).
So, the music starts at 8:30 p.m. As always, Hit City's Tim Brickley is the gracious host. Some bottles are half-priced. Get there early and get the balcony seat 'cause it's a really cool listening spot.
This looks cool.
Oh, it is cool ~ it's a great laid-back thing to do, midweek. I hear there will be talent from all over the place in November and December, so stay tuned.
Hi, Lila...Luke told me he enjoyed meeting you...and I guess you requested "George, please don't bring your guns" song. Cool.
I would love a quote from you about his performance/songs for his website. You could leave it here or email me at bellalouisa@sbcglobal.net.
His name was spelled wrong on the flyer...it is Luke Austin Daugherty...there are so many ways to spell the name!
I work with Luke and maybe I will meet you at a future concert. He performs tomorrow night (Friday, Aug. 22nd) as the First Stage Band at VWMC 5:00-5:45pm.
Thanks again for your support. And isn't Tim Brickley a great guy and musician...and it is great that venues are having these singer/songwriter nights.

Oh, SO sorry about the mispelling ~ I just copied the cool pamphlet.
And, yes, I did ask for what I termed "The George Bush Song." It was so very nice of Mr. Daugherty to do it, and to give me a copy of the latest cd, which I enjoyed in my car all day yesterday.
As for a quote, I don't feel qualified, cause I'm just a fan. But, I have another idea: Tim Brickley IS qualified, as a performer and a recording studio owner (Hit City) ~ so, I'll gather one up from him and send it to you. K?
So, I hope to see you all at D'vine again sometime ~ I'm glad Troubadour Songwriter Night has taken off: I think it's good for local music and our great Hoosier artists, not to mention my ongoing effort to consume as many different wines as possible before I croak.
I'll be back with ya soon, Bella (can I call you that?)...
