Shakespeare in the Park
So who all is going to Shakespeare in the Park this weekend in Noblesville? I am so excited to see the performance and you will be able to read my review of the show on Saturday. It has been a while since I have seen Shakespeare so I am anxious to revisit some of the plays. I think it is really cool that so many local parks are sponsoring such an event. Not only is is free theatre (do those two words even go together?) but it is a great way to expose the whole family to the great playwright. I don't know how excited my kids are about seeing it, but one of them was an understudy for the Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged (One of the funniest shows ever!)so hopefully he will get a lot out of it. Anyone going?
I didn't know about this until just now, but I'll definately check it out

I am not a huge Shakespeare fan, but watching the plays are a heck of a lot easier than reading them! LOL I know one place is doing the "Merry Wives of Windsor" and it seems that another venue is doing "The Taming of the Shrew" I just think it is a great way to appreciate the classics. Another great theatre venue is the Milano Inn and there Mystery Cafe...have you ever been?
No I haven't been to that one. I mostly frequent community theater. I like seeing someone who does taxes by day try to live thier dream by puting on a performance in front of 50 to 100 people. Don't get me wrong, I love watching professionals too, but for my money I'd rather support the dreamers within my community.

I like community theatre as well...the Mystery Cafe is a lot of fun though and of course, just like with community theatre, you are supporting a local business and a local crew, so that is not a bad thing either. I attended Spamalot last spring at the Murat and was really happy to see a home grown pro (the guy was from Fishers) play Lancelot. That was really kind of cool. It doesn't happen very often when someone "makes it" to the big time. I know of a lot of young people who have told me how much they want to make it big on Broadway and I have to laugh because they would probably have just as much fun locally but so many of them look at it like an all or nothing proposition.
