School Board to open stadium bids tonight

ZIONSVILLLE — The School Board tonight will discuss construction bids for a new multipurpose stadium at the high school and other additions.The board will meet at 6 p.m. to open the bids at the district’s Educational Services Center, 900 Mulberry St.ZionsvilleStar.com: Click here for the latest local news on schools, sports, events and more.The district is planning a new stadium on Mulberry Street that will have artificial turf for the football and soccer teams and the marching band to use for play and practice. Plans call for 6,000 seats: 4,000 for home fans and 2,000 for visitors. The number of parking spaces would jump from 1,405 to 1,839.Along with the new stadium, additional softball and baseball fields will be built on Boone County Road 875 East.The cost of both projects is estimated at nearly $14 million for construction, with total estimated costs including professional fees at $16 million.
