Well. The floodgates have opened. The first artist to follow suit from the once-unique-but-soon-to-be-commonplace release of In Rainbows (yes, another post that mentions that) will be Saul Williams, spoken word and recording artist made famous in the 1998 film "Slam". While not quite a household name in Indiana, he's one of the most respected figures in his craft around the globe.

Working closely with producer Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, the two have crafted a "Wall of sound... tagged with such graffiti that a passerby would seek out doors and ways to ENTER", according to Williams.

Reznor broke the news on his personal blog early Thursday morning, October 25. Read his entry here http://www.nin.com/index.html#81...

For a nice example of Saul's writing, check out his message on the albums website http://n----tardust.com/saulwill...

There you can pre-order either a free download, or a $5 lossless file (higher quality recording).

Personally, I think Saul and Trent together is going to be monstrous. Can't wait to hear it. Saul Williams is a big reason I began writing. But I do miss the times when you would walk into a music shop and but a cd...

Williams closes out his online entry with, "And when you click the link below, i think it fair that you should know that your purchase will make middlemen much poorer..."

Wow, the website edited out Saul's address, which should have n-i-g-g-y-s-t-a-r-d-u-s-t without the dashes. What a day and age.

First Rick Rubin and now Trent? Impressive! I'm a huge fan of Amethyst Rock Star and Saul's movie Slam. Can't wait for this one. I especially liked his song Wine. "Now do you know how I feel tonight? Now can't you see I'm surreal tonight?"

Yeah, it's no surprise that two of my favorite artists are going the same route. I am excited about this!

I'm personally a big fan of Williams' "List of Demands(Reparations)". Really, really good song.

I love Saul and I have Trent to thank for it. I got to see Saul several times when he was on tour with NIN. That got me into his poetry and I saw him at a reading in Austin. He's just amazing. I planned to go to the Chicago show, but I had no idea it would sell out so quickly. I gotta get me some tickets. I can't wait to see the "N---- Tardust" songs live.
