For Brad Paisley, it's almost Saturday night. The country singer has recorded seven tracks for his eighth album, American Saturday Night, due June 30 on Arista Records.

Paisley, 36, calls first single Then "a heartfelt love song — the kind I haven't done, really." He wrote Then with songwriters Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley. "We had a target, and the target was our significant others," says Paisley, who is married to actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

Though he's known for his clever lyrics and multitracked guitar parts, Paisley says he takes a more direct approach on much of American Saturday Night.

"I'm not so worried about making the songwriters in town sit and take notice as I am wanting people to feel like I really meant what I said on this record," he says.
