Report: Grilled cheese not a fave at Avon school
An Avon elementary school student is one of 16 semi-finalists in a “Today” show Kid Reporter contest.
Pine Tree Elementary student Jenna Ruiz was one of four finalists featured today on the morning NBC News show.
Her report was about the life of a middle school student. She discovered that middle school students like freedom, have lockers, hate the grilled cheese and have eight classes.
Al Roker asked if she tried to mimic any other television reporter.
“No,” Jenna replied. “I just tried to do it to where my voice was where you could hear it.”
Kid reporters were broken up into groups for viewers to pick their favorite semifinalists. Two more rounds of judging will determine the contest winner.
Anyone can watch the contestant’s videos and vote by 5 p.m. Tuesday at www.todayshow.com.
The winner of Jenna’s group will be announced Wednesday on “Today.”
