Zionsville — A new bridge on Ind. 334 will open to traffic today. The road west of Zionsville, including a bridge over Irishman’s Run, will open late this afternoon, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The project included replacing the bridge, widening the lanes to 12 feet with 10-foot shoulders and elevating the road 4 feet. Poindexter Excavating did the work for about $2 million.

Although the road and bridge will be open to vehicles, the contractor will continue to work on grading, seeding, laying sod and installing permanent pavement marking during the next two weeks, the release said.

While work continues, drivers may experience minor delays, have to slow down and follow workers’ directions.
