Kym “Kymi” Black, Indianapolis, shares her recipe for fresh salsa. “This is great with chips,” she said, “as well as black beans and rice.”

Kymi’s Salsa

8 to 10 tomatoes

1 each — green, yellow, red and orange pepper

6 bunches green onion, chopped

2 bunches cilantro, chopped

3 teaspoons ground red pepper

2 teaspoons black pepper and salt

2 to 3 tablespoons hot sauce

1. Cut tomatoes and peppers into quarters (I leave the pepper seeds, as they add more flavor).

2. Place all ingredients into a food chopper and mix till blended (I prefer a chunky texture). Add hot sauce and stir.
