Spin Nightclub is closed after a 2-1/2-year run as a live music venue in Broad Ripple, according to concert promoter Matt Markoff.

Markoff, who has presented touring hip-hop acts at the former site of the long-running Patio, 6308 N. Guilford Ave., says Spin owner Todd Johnson relayed news of the venue’s demise Tuesday night.

Markoff had a July 24 event booked at Spin, and he’s seeking a new home for a Sept. 19 show starring rap group D-12.Johnson could not be reached for comment. The Patio was open from 1975 to 2005. During 2006, Le Rouge operated as a dueling piano bar at the same address. The building is owned by Steve Ross, who also owns the Vogue nightclub, 6259 N. College Ave.Ross said he hasn’t spoken to Johnson about Spin’s current status.
