Poet Joseph Kerschbaum at the Writer's Center
This SUNDAY EVENING, December 14, 2008, The Writers’ Center of Indiana presents a free poetry reading by Joseph Kerschbaum at 7 pm. Located at 812 E 67th Street, off College Ave. just behind The Indianapolis Art Center in the Cultural Complex Building. Kerschbaum is the author of three collections of poetry. The most recent collection is Dead Stars Have No Graves, published by Pathwise Press. Kerschbaum released his second spoken word album, Our Voices Sound Like Silence, in 2008. Kerschbaum’s work has appeared in numerous publications including Poetry Midwest, Origami Condom, Bathtub Gin, Arsenic Lobster, among others. Kerschbaum has received grants from the Bloomington Area Arts Council and the Indiana Arts Commission. In 2009, his new chapbook, The Handless Long for Sign Language, will be published by Pudding House Press. Kerschbaum “has the dramatic ability to place the demons of his private imagination onto a public stage and then allow them to wrestle with their own contradictions. The sounds of words and inflections in his language are always arresting as his persona seem at war with shadows of a parallel universe.” Following Kerschbaum’s reading will be an open mic.
