Pink merchandise marks silver year of breast cancer awareness month
This month marks the silver anniversary of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a campaign to bring financial and educational support to the cause.
The promotion includes advocacy programs for breast cancer care and prevention; awareness and fundraising walks benefiting research; and various corporations offering specialty products.
Following are a few items sold by local retailers.
Cook for the Cure — Purchase any KitchenAid product, ranging from a chef’s chopper ($49.99) to a stand mixer ($349.99), and KitchenAid will make a donation to the Susan G. Clean Sweep — O-Cedar has partnered with the Breast Cancer Network of Strength to create pink brooms and a self-twisting mop, starting at $8.99, available at Kmart, Walmart and Ace Hardware stores.
Take a Stand — An upright pink-accented Oreck XL vacuum, starting at $499, is available at Oreck Clean Home Centers in Avon, Greenwood and Indianapolis. For every vacuum purchased, Oreck will donate $25 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Pink Hope — From gloves ($14.99) to an 18-piece tool set ($79.99), Target offers a line of garden products supporting Breast Cancer Awareness.
