Penske to keep running with Power
Will Power will be rewarded for his fifth-place finish in Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 but not immediately.
Team Penske owner Roger Penske said today that he will field the Australian driver in more races this IndyCar Series season, but not at this weekend’s event in Milwaukee.
“We can’t do that,” Penske said as his primary driver, Helio Castroneves, was being photographed with his winning car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “But we’re going to run him more.“He’s been great for us.”Power has finished second, fifth and sixth in his three races for the team. He was in second place late in the 500 before his crew was slow to replace his right rear tire during the final pit stop.“He could have finished in the top two or three,” Penske said.Power joined Penske’s team in January as a stand-in during the Brazilian’s tax evasion case.Castroneves returned to the team April 17 when he was acquitted on six of the seven federal indictments against him.Power said he will play any role asked of him by the team.
