On tap for beer aficionados is a newly released documentary called “The American Brew,” a DVD available for $24.99 from PBS Distribution. The film explores the history of beer making from colonial settlers to Prohibition to the rise of microbrews and the success of national breweries.

“The American Brew” also features more than 45 minutes of bonus footage, including “Cheese Wars,” a battle to determine cheese’s perfect match, plus conversations with restaurateur Danny Meyer, premier beer critic Michael Jackson and the editors of “All About Beer.” It also features a look inside the hidden cellar of New York City’s Prohibition-era 21 Club and Paul Brady’s breweriana collection.

To order a copy of “The American Brew,” call (800) PLAY-PBS or visit http://www.shopPBS.org.
