Thatcher Park will transfer its programs elsewhere for a month while the indoor pool undergoes renovation.

The Family Center has a gymnasium and meeting room that host basketball games, volleyball, home-schooling and other activities, said Paula Freund, a spokeswoman for Indy Parks.

The pool was one of five closed for the summer because it needed repairs, but the rest of the fieldhouse stayed open because heavy construction hadn’t begun.

The $600,000 in repairs will include a new heating and cooling unit and a new office on the pool deck. The pool and bathrooms will be painted, and the bathrooms and showers will be improved.

Thatcher Park programs and employees will be transferred to other Indy Parks facilities while the center is closed. It will close today and is scheduled to reopen Dec. 5, but pool repairs will continue after that.
