GREENWOOD, Ind. — Boomer, the Indiana Pacers mascot, will be at the Greenwood Community Center at 11 a.m. Saturday during a Youth Basketball Appreciation Day.

The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department partnered with the Pacers for Boomer’s appearance at the center, 100 Surina Way, for the free appreciation-day event.

Several of the parks department girls basketball teams will practice that day, and a discounted registration fee will be offered for the 2009-10 Pacers Junior Boys Basketball League, with $5 off normal league fees for players who register between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday, according to a parks department news release.

For more information, call the parks department at (317) 881-4545.
