Orquesta Bravo! to the Canal for the Latin Celebration!!

'Best of Indy' salsa band Orquesta Bravo! has been invited to participate in the Concerts on the Canal Series of the Indiana Historical Society which, in partnership with the School of Music at IUPUI, is having a Latin Celebration! On Thursday, August 21, 2008, beginning at 7:00 p.m., Orquesta Bravo! will perform its hot and sultry sounds as the representative of Latin music in Indianapolis and its growing Hispanic community. The concert will take place at Canal Plaza, Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. Free admission.

Come early and enjoy the café, cash bar and outdoor grill which will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. delight your senses with the Spanish sounds of John Alvarado's guitar and the matador moves of the Flamenco dancer accompanying him. Reserved table seating for four: $30, $25 IHS members; for tables of eight: $40, $35 IHS members. Tables may be reserved in advance by calling the Welcome Center at (317) 232-1882. Attendees may bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages to the concert. Attendees may NOT bring alcoholic beverages onto the premises. All alcohol must be purchased on site. No pets and no smoking allowed on Plaza.

Orquesta Bravo! is honored to be part of this event brought by the organization which since 1830 has been Indiana's Storyteller', connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting and disseminating Indiana history to a wide variety of audiences through historical resources, statewide educational programs, publications and activities: the Indiana Historical Society; and the IUPUI School of Music, which endeavors to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Indiana and beyond through distinctive leadership in research, education, and service.

Orquesta Bravo! continues with its successful musical voyage. 2007 was an exciting musical year for Orquesta Bravo! and it is continuing with that momentum and energy into what it has called its 'Great in '08' season. Orquesta Bravo! will continue to strive to be the best Latin musical representative of Indiana. Under the leadership of Stacie Kidwell (Sandoval on stage), the group will continue to solidify their music, expand their repertoire and intensify their entertainment. As always, the group is comprised of the best and most professional musicians Indiana has to offer. Ms. Kidwell is the owner of the local real estate firm, Home Free Realty, LLC. Ms. Kidwell also had a hand in creating the Stacie Sandoval Tropical Jazztet, a smaller group performing jazz standards and boleros and featuring local icon Ken Fary on the piano, and, more recently, the Latin Pop trio, ConPaz.

In the near future, Orquesta Bravo! can be seen at the Artsgarden, downtown Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m., and at the Sweet Corn Festival in Urbana Illinois at 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 23.
