Oishi Sushi & Grill
Hey eastsiders (and others- it is worth the trip!) a new restaurant offering has opened in our under-served area and it is excellent! It is in the old location of the China Wok Buffet (and before that a Ponderosa) at 6929 E 10th St. You will be surprised once you go in. They have spent a lot of money re-doing and the interior is very swank. The food was as good as any sushi that I have had in this city and the service was great too. We wish them success and encourage everyone to give it a try!

I pass it almost every day, and do plan on going in. I went to the last asian buffet that was in that spot and was not that great. I will take your recomendation. I love sushi I do not have to drive all over for.
I'm with you Jock! That place is great! We went there for lunch today (4/24/2008) and it was SO good! I just had the lunch sushi special, with yellowtail, spicy tuna and avocado/tuna sushi. Yum! And what a selection! All the real good stuff. Now I'm going back for dinner and ordering a wide selection. Thanks!
I am so glad you posted this reivew. For those of us on the Eastside who like sushi, our ship has come in! This place is fantastic, and we hope they get lots of customers. In my opinion, the best sushi in town, and I've been to all of them . Try the crab stick salad-excellent! PS- don't let the former location as a Ponderosa Steakhouse & chinese buffet fool you. It's been remodeled and is beautiful inside.
